Saint Anthony’s Health System of Alton is planning to join forces with OSF Healthcare System of Peoria. A letter of intent has been signed between the two entities and was discussed during a media event Monday. The deal has been discused for the past five to six year according to the Chairman of the OSF Board, Kevin Schoeplein who appeared at the news conference on yesterday afternoon at St. Anthony's.

Mother Regina Pacis, Chairman of the Board at Saint Anthony’s Health System, says the potential affiliation will allow St. Anthony’s to grow and offer a wider variety of specialty services while improving their ability to recruit new doctors and further expand services to the community.

Schoeplin says there will be no immediate changes during the next few months, and he says the long-term plan is to grow opportunities for employment while remaining a respected member of the local community. An official decision to move forward is expected later this year.
