We just enjoyed the warmest spring on record in Illinois. State climatologist Jim Angel says the average temperature march through may in Illinois was 59.1 degrees. The previous record was set in 1977 and nearly two degrees lower.
Angel says Illinois didn’t see the range of temperatures and rainfall that normally accompany spring.
Angel says forecasters are predicting more warm, dry weather over the next few weeks. May is usually the wettest month in Illinois, but came in this year as the 21st driest on record.
