A group of students from Alton Middle School are learning about robotics thanks to a grant from the Alton Educational Foundation.  The foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to three teachers last year to purchase Lego kits and software to program the robots.  Some of those efforts were on display this morning at the school.

Science teacher Sarah Keith says this type of learning helps students in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

Alton Educational Foundation Vice President Ryan Bemis says it is efforts like this that will hopefully generate more financial support from the community and Alton alumni.  The foundation has awarded nearly $130,000 in grants since its inception nearly 15 years ago.
