The bill for natural gas stands to go up – and electricity down – from Ameren. The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved a $32 million rate hike for natural gas delivery. “In this instance, (Ameren's) original request for a natural gas rate hike was $50 million,” says Citizens Utility Board spokesman Jim Chilsen. “What the ICC ruled on was a $32 million rate hike.” Chilsen says CUB will appeal.
