Fall is here, and taking in the colors is a favorite pastime of many visitors and local residents. Typically the peak of the color season for the Riverbend is in late October or early November, but with the plentiful rain earlier this year and cool temperatures now, that target may be a moving one. Some experts say the peak of the colors could come this week or next. Others say there will be some leaves that hold their color much later in the year.
Asta Sadauskis of The Greenery in Godfrey believes the peak will be around Halloween.
You can take in the fall colors on any one of a number of routes, and the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau has several guides and apps to help you plan a route. www.visitalton.com
