Bethalto’s Southside Park will be undergoing some renovations this spring as the village continues to focus on upgrading its green spaces. The $38-thousand project, which will be funded entirely by a PEP grant from the county, will include the creation of new sidewalks, the installation of new bleachers and new fencing around the park grounds.
Bethalto Mayor Steve Bryant says this project was created following a discussion at a recent Park and Recreation planning session.
Bryant says the funding will help create more ADA accessible areas at the park, which was the main concern brought up during that session. The renovations are expected to begin when the weather improves this spring and Bryant is hopeful they will be finished in time for the summer sports season.
