The Madison County Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of a man who was found dead inside his South Roxana home early Monday following a house fire. 78 year old Amil D. Goskie of the 200 block of Stephenson Drive is believed to have died as a result of smoke inhalation, according to an initial report from the coroner.
Fire crews were called to the scene around 4:30am Monday, with South Roxana firefighters joined by a handful of nearby departments. Goskie was found dead near a back door of the home. South Roxana Fire Chief Ed Allsman told Z-1570 news earlier this week fire investigators were looking at the possibility of a wood burning stove being the cause of the fire, but no final cause has been determined.
