The House of Hope in Cottage Hills has received $25,000 from State Farm Insurance following an on-line promotion by the company. The House of Hope is an offshoot of the Community Hope Center, and there are plans to one day open a shelter for women and children. For now, the group runs a soup kitchen, a community garden and a homeless outreach.
House of Hope Executive Director Dani Robinette even being considered for the award was a bit of a surprise:
And after receiving enough votes to put them in the top 40 in the country, and chosen as a winner, Robinette says they were still in shock. That was until yesterday when officials with State Farm presented the group with the check. Robinette says they will share some of the proceeds with other organizations and use the rest to enhance their current ministries.
