Illinois officials say it will still be at least a month until the first batch of Illinois concealed-carry permits are issued. So far, police say the application process has been very smooth. Less than one-percent of the applications have been flagged by local authorities for further review.
Officials expect the applications to continue to flood in based on the increase in people taking safety courses, a requirement for completing an application.
