Privatizing Social Security, raising the retirement age, and throwing Medicare subscribers onto the open market are all bad ideas, says U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), and they’re ideas he says his opponent, State Sen. Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove), endorses. Oberweis is on record supporting Social Security privatization when it was proposed by President George W. Bush a decade ago; he has not made an issue on it during this campaign.
