A major soccer tournament is coming back for a third consecutive year in 2014, and an upgrade is in order for then August event. More than 3,000 people attended the second annual Kick It 3v3 Midwest Regional Championships Soccer Tournament at Gordon Moore Park in Alton last summer, and it appears organizers see the potential for continued growth.
Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau President Brett Stawar says the Kick It organization recently contacted his office with news of the 2014 plans.

That means more teams will likely be coming to town this summer. Spending more money, according to Stawar. Last year's tournament generated somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000 for the local economy. This year’s tournament will be held August 2&3.
