You will see salt trucks on the roads throughout the day as local road crews continue to deal with the latest round of snow to hit the Riverbend. Some areas saw more than four inches of snow overnight and forecasts say an additional inch could fall before the storm moves out of the area this evening. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning Saturday afternoon that remains in effect until 6 p.m. tonight. The Illinois Department of Transportation's winter road conditions page currently describes roads in Madison County as snow or ice covered, and officials are urging motorists to give crews plenty of room as they work and to remember safe winter driving tips like increasing your following distance and reducing speed with winter precipitation on area roads.
