Everyone is encouraged to get ready for our first taste of winter weather, which is expected hit the Riverbend later today. A wet, sloppy mixture of light snow, sleet and freezing rain is predicted to make an appearance by the evening commute. Local highway and road crews are standing by, ready to jump into action.
IDOT Engineer Joe Monroe says their preparations actually began Wednesday.
He says the first winter storm of the season always provides special challenges, as the temperatures will be dropping as the equipment is in use. He asks motorists to be courteous on the roadways, and give road crews plenty of extra room to do their job.
