Godfrey firefighters responded to a small fire in a kitchen on Wednesday at a home on Piasa Trail.  Fire crews were called to the residence around 10:30am yesterday with about a dozen on duty and volunteer firefighters on the scene.  No one was injured as those inside the home were able to escape.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, which sustained moderate damage.  There was light smoke damage throughout the rest of the home with a total damage estimate around $45,000.  An engine company from Fosterburg Fire moved up to cover Godfrey Station 1 while crews were on the scene.
