The $52-million Science Lab Building West on the SIU-Edwardsville campus is  now officially dedicated, with a ceremony marking the milestone on Monday.  The facility incorporates laboratories for faculty and student research in a state-of-the-art learning environment.  It opened for use in the fall semester.

Bill Retzlaff, Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, says the new building will open up a wealth of opportunities for all who use it.

Retzloff says the new building features a 30-kilowatt solar array, which powers some of the building's equipment.  Three departments, including chemistry, biological sciences and environmental sciences, have moved into Science Lab Building West.
