Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has been ranked among the top 60 out of the 684 master's universities in the nation for the fourth consecutive year by national magazine Washington Monthly. SIUE is 23rd among public institutions on that list. The university also landed on the magazine's "Best Bang for the Buck" list.
SIUE spokesman Doug McIlhagga says it has been an honor to be recognized by the magazine over the years.
Washington Monthly evaluates an institution’s “contribution to the public good” in three broad categories: Social Mobility - recruiting and graduating low-income students; Research - producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs; and Service - encouraging students to give something back to their country.
