Faculty and students at SIU-Edwardsville may soon have an opportunity to travel to Cuba as part of an exchange program that is currently being worked out. It could happen as early as next year. The exchange would be with the University of Havana, which already has programs with schools in the south and on the east coast.
Aldemaro Romero, with the SIU College of Arts and Science, says says they're still working out a few kinks.
He'll head to Havana in September to sign an agreement between the two universities. Only graduate students will be approved for exchange in the early stages of the program but Romero says he eventually wants to extend it to undergraduates.
