A new facility is in the works for the SIU School of Dental Medicine and the existing clinic is also in line for upgrades according to SIUE’s Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. Doug McIlhagga tells The Big Z that the SIU Board of Trustees approved contracts to remodel the Alton clinic and proceed with the development of and Edwardsville clinic last week.

He says both projects were necessitated by the need for more space.

The renovations at the Alton clinic include replacing existing dental case work, including ADA compliance, installing new electrical, gas and compressed air for each lab station, and replacing flooring, ceiling pads and general lighting according to McIlhagga. He also says the Edwardsville campus will accommodate the SDM’s new international advanced placement program and graduate programs while also freeing up chair space at the Alton clinic.
