The Alton City Council has accepted the preliminary design for the new Alton Multimodal Transportation Center. The city’s Plan Commission presented the plan to the public earlier this month. The next step will be to prepare the 30% preliminary design to be submitted to the Federal Railroad Administration.
Juneau Associates, Incorporated is doing the design work as the project heads toward the next step. Alton Development and Housing Director Greg Caffey says there was good participation at the public hearing that presented this preliminary design.

There will a multi-use facility located on the land that once was home to the Wadlow Municipal Golf Course, with retail and housing a part of the overall plan that ties into the new high-speed rail. In other council action, the agreement with Liberty Bank to become the title sponsor at the Alton Amphitheater was signed in a brief ceremony at the end of the meeting.
