Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon is taking part in a discussion on how to improve Illinois' waterways and make sure they're in good health. One of the topics includes finding ways to make sure the water doesn't come out of the banks and damage people's property.

Simon met with Ag leaders and environmentalists in Washington, D.C. last week to discuss ways to maintain and improve the health of the rivers. She says it was just a meeting of the minds but one of the ideas included creating one agency to oversee the needs of the rivers.
