The former Illinois Lt. Governor is throwing her hat back into the ring, this time vying for a seat in the Illinois Senate. Shelia Simon announced yesterday she plans to run for the Democratic nomination for the 58th District Illinois Senate seat. Simon was Lt. Governor under Pat Quinn.
Simon made the announcement at the DuQuion State Fair. The 58th District seat is currently held by Republican Senator Dave Luechtefeld, who announced he would not be seeking re-election. Simon lost a bid for state comptroller in 2014.
