Coming up on two weeks into the investigation into the murder of an Alton man, police are still pouring over leads in the shooting. Police say the shooting that killed 23-year-old Tyler Hoppe of the 1200 block of Hampton Avenue in Alton on Wednesday night, December 7 is still at the top of their priority list. The reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction was recently increased to $5,000.

Alton Police Chief David Hayes, says investigators believe they are making progress.

Hoppe was found lying on the ground near his vehicle in an alleyway, and taken to Alton Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Alton Police at 463-3505, extension 249, or the anonymous tip line at 465-5948.
