Three people are in custody in connection with a shooting in South Roxana Tuesday afternoon. A male victim was shot in the chest and airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis for treatment. A man and two women were apprehended a short time later in Granite City and are facing charges.
South Roxana Police Chief Bob Coles says police officers responded to the 200 block of Smith Street around 4:30pm Tuesday to reports of possible gunshots. There, they found a white male victim who had been shot in the chest outside the driveway of his residence. He was taken from the scene and eventually transported to a hospital in St. Louis where his condition is unknown. Witnesses and area residents provided police with information, a car description and license plate that allowed them to find the suspects and take them into custody in Granite City not long after the incident. A male and two females were arrested and are facing formal charges but have not been identified.
