Another member of Illinois’ congressional delegation is throwing his support behind the air strikes against ISIS targets in Northern Iraq. U.S. Representative John Shimkus (R-15th District) says he supports the decision to have American forces step in to help protect innocent lives in Iraq, but that U.S. involvement in Iraq is a sign of failure of leadership from both the Iraqi government and President Obama.

He also remains concerned about the President’s long-term plan for Iraq

Shimkus also says that only time will tell if ground troops will need to be sent back to Iraq and points to U.S. intervention in Kosovo as an instance where a sustained air campaign was enough to settle an ongoing conflict.
