It's Day 3 of the first partial shutdown of the federal government in more than 17 years. The shutdown is prompting furloughs of hundreds of thousands of federal employees, the closure of national parks and delays in processing federal forms and licenses.
Congressman John Shimkus, a Collinsville Republican, says the House has tried to work with the Senate.
Shimkus is one of the Republicans who voted to defund Obamacare. The landmark healthcare reform law has been the main sticking point between the House and Senate and continued government funding.
