A fatal Missouri crash may prompt a nationwide ban on cell phone use behind the wheel. The National Transportation Safety Board is urging states to look at making the use of electronic devices while driving illegal. Madison County Sheriff Bob Hertz is one of many in law enforcement that thinks a complete ban would be a great idea.
The recommendation from the NTSB came after the agency released its final report on a deadly chain reaction crash last year near on I-44 Gray Summit. Investigators say 19-year-old Daniel Schatz sent 11 texts in 11 minutes before his pick up crashed into a school bus, starting a deadly chain reaction. Schatz was killed, along with a 15-year-old student on the bus.
