Although some on social media were referring to it as a possible hostage situation, an early Sunday morning response to a Cottage Hills residence has been classified as nothing more serious than a welfare check. A large number of emergency response vehicles responded to a home in the 100 block of Lenora Avenue after several callers to 911 reported the sound of shots fired at the address.
When the Madison County Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene before 8am they were unable to make contact with the resident of the home, which resulted in a longer stay in the neighborhood. After communicating with the resident it was eventually determined that no assistance was needed. A spokesman for the Sheriff's Department says the incident remains under investigation.
