The National Weather Service wants you to be aware of the potential for severe weather again this spring. The NWS and Illinois Emergency Management Agency will be conducting a statewide tornado drill today, and you will likely hear tornado sirens and emergency alerts if you are listening to the radio, watching TV, or subscribe to a text-message alert system.
NWS Warning Coordinator Meteorologist Jim Kramper tells The Big Z the more advance warning they can give when the weather turns severe, the more prepared you can be.

Kramper reminds there are a number of different ways to receive weather warnings, including through a weather radio, notifications on your smart phone, and local radio station. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is holding a contest to win a weather radio. For details, follow the link: www.Ready.Illinois.gov
