A man from Madison is facing more than 7 years in prison for distributing methamphetamine. 31-year-old Isaac Lawrence was sentenced in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis to 92 months in prison, plus probation and fines after authorities say he bought Meth out of state then tried to mail it to himself.
Lawrence pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine after authorities say he and a co-defendant traveled to California to buy Meth and then mailed it back to a post office in East St. Louis. Lawrence was arrested after U.S. Postal Inspectors became suspicious of the package and obtained a warrant to search the package, in which they found around 235 grams of Meth. He pled guilty last November and the sentence was announced on Monday.
