It's a 15-year prison sentence for a Troy, Illinois man who thought he was arranging to have sex with a 13-year-old. 28-year-old Shane L. Schlaefer was arrested the night of April 6, 2015 in Collinsville when he thought he was meeting up with a mother and child for the purposes of sex with the child.
The supposed mother and child were both actually undercover investigators. According to information provided by the Department of Justice, in November 2014 Schlaefer offered an undercover investigator posing as the mother of a 13-year-old $500 to set up a meeting in order to have sex with the teenager. He is also said to have sent messages directly to who he believed to be the 13-year-old describing his wishes. Schlaefer was sentenced to 15-years in prison for Attempted Commercial Sex Trafficking of a Child and Attempted Enticement of a Minor. He will also spend the 15-years following his release from prison on supervised release, following his sentencing in federal court this week.
