The votes are apparently not there today to override the veto of the Fiscal Year 2016 budget, but there's still going to be budget action today at the Capitol. The focus will be a temporary budget – covering essential services and employee pay in July – for a final floor vote in the Senate.
The governor's already expressed his disdain for a temporary budget. State Sen. Bill Haine (D-Alton) wants to pass a property tax freeze, even though local schools may not like it.
