A student suffering from a drug overdose at school could be administered Narcan by a school nurse if legislation in the Illinois Senate is passed by the House.  Narcan is a treatment for those who have overdosed on opiates like heroin and prescription painkillers.

While it isn't a daily occurrence, local activist and recovering heroin addict Chad Sabora tells The Big Z it is important to have the medication handy wherever the potential for overdose exists.
