The re-opening is underway at Chicago's Second City. Fire a few weeks ago destroyed two offices at the comedy troupe's headquarters a few weeks ago, and the company's mainstage has reopened, to be followed soon by the comedy club and e.t.c.

“It was definitely a really tragic moment, watching this place be put into jeopardy,” said Tyler Alexander, vice president of marketing. “But once we saw what was damaged and what wasn't, the most important pieces of Second City were relatively untouched, relatively speaking.” The performance areas sustained only minor damage, and Alexander – who went out of his way to praise Chicago firefighters for the care they showed for the building and the troupe – says the intellectual property of Second City is stored elsewhere.
