Rescue crews have recovered the body of a second man from Carlyle Lake. They've been searching since Saturday night after the man and his friend went missing. Authorities say one of the men got out of a boat to swim near the Boulder Marina but started having trouble. That's when his friend went into the water to try and save him but he also went under. Crews found the body of Michael Septeowski from Troy, Illinois yesterday morning.
The Illinois Conservation Police, Army Corps of Engineers and other local law enforcement agencies have been at the lake since Saturday night after the two men went missing. Illinois Conservation Police Spokesman Chris McCloud says they are still trying to figure out what happened:
Officials believe three men went boating on the lake Saturday night, when one of them jumped into the water, and began struggling. A second man jumped in after him; both disappeared under the water, and never resurfaced. The third man remained with the boat, but was not familiar with how to operate it and began to drift away from the two in the water. Other passing boaters attempted to assist, but were unable to reach the men.
