Local boy scouts had a busy day Saturday as they picked up tens of thousands of canned goods across the Riverbend. The annual Scouting for Food pick-up day will help stock up local food pantries for the winter. This year, they collected about 67,000 food items from homes in the Riverbend.
Mary Brand is President of the Board of Directors at the Crisis Food Center in Alton. She tells The Big Z about 11,000 food items made it to their facility.
