As if there wasn’t enough of a strain on our schools, some are now being targeted by scammers. The Better Business Bureau has issued an alert about Scholastic School Supply, which is allegedly sending bogus materials invoices to schools across the nation including here in Illinois.
BBB Investigator Bill Smith says these are professional-looking invoices.

It is suspected these invoices were mailed to districts during the time when many are starting school in the fall in hopes they would get lost in the mass of invoices that traditionally are a part of starting a school year, and the districts would pay them without looking too closely. Smith says this outfit has no connection to Scholastic, Inc., based in New York.
