St. Ambrose School in Godfrey is one local school that took part in the Worldwide March Against Bullying on Thursday. The event featured a rally at the beginning of the school day, a special song, posters and then a march around the school parking lot. East Elementary School in Alton also held a march as part of the day.
St. Ambrose School Principal Sue Schmidt says the school has been involved in a BJC-sponsored bullying prevention program for several years and it has been renewed for next year. Schmidt says all schools deal with some form of bullying, so making students aware of what they can do to stand up to it is important:

A deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office took part in the march, and some of the anti-bullying posters are displayed at Alton Square Mall.
