After years of discussion a major change in the Southwestern Community School District could be set into motion tonight. District officials began discussing a transition to attendance centers three and a half years ago amid concerns about declining enrollment and general state aid payments. Three options were presented to the Southwestern School Board in January, with two of them including a shift to attendance centers.
District Superintendent Brad Skertich tells the Big Z the transition would be a big change for the district.

The board tabled a vote on the issue last month in order to seek additional input from parents in the district. Tonight’s special meeting will convene at 6:30 at Brighton West Elementary School.
