Kids don’t have to start school until they’re seven in Illinois, but that’s about to change.  A new law will require them to start one year earlier.  It doesn’t take effect until the 2014-2015 school year but all kids who turn six by September 1st of 2014 will have to start hitting the books.

It applies to public, private, and even home-schooled kids.  Supporters of the measure say it’ll help kids succeed.
