U. S. Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Peoria), making his first appearance before Springfield reporters since his decision not to run for governor, says the “risk-reward” equation points to him running for a fourth term in Congress.  Schock says it’s a matter of what he wants to do in the near future: “Certainly, if you run for a statewide office, you’re going to spend the next two years of your live living and breathing (the campaign), as opposed to, in my current role, I can focus on some projects that are important to my district.”

Schock says he is already a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and has a good relationship with House leadership, while a gubernatorial run would mean he would have to give up his seat. He said the likely candidates for both parties were also factors in his decision.
