A second Sam's Club for the metro east is apparently close to a done deal after the village of Glen Carbon signed off on its final piece of the puzzle.  The village board gave it's final approval of the site plan recently and now the developers must complete the purchase of the property along highway 159 near the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon border.

The site is the location of the former Four Flags Motors and the Goshen Do-It center and is just south of Center Grove Road.  The Village Board had twice rejected the $25.5 million plan due to the developers asking for too much money in tax incentives, but in the end, the village approved $6.7 million in tax breaks to develop the site.  No word on when the property deals would be completed or when construction would begin, but the project has been on the drawing board before the village since March of 2011.
