With Christmas just around the corner, the Alton Salvation Army is putting out a call for volunteers to serve as bell ringers. The chapter made a change last year, going with an all-volunteer bell ringing effort, as opposed to hiring a handful of ringers it has in years past.
Alton Salvation Army Lieutenant Teri Ellison says it saved the organization around $25,000, and hopes to enlist the help of more people this year.

Ellison says there will be numerous locations this year and that a few sites have been switched to counter kettles. You can learn more about volunteering to ring bells by clicking on the link below, or by calling 465-7764.
