With the Christmas just around the corner, the Alton Salvation Army is putting out a call for volunteers to serve as bell ringers. The chapter is making a change this year, going with an all-volunteer bell ringing effort, as opposed to hiring the handful of ringers it has in years past.

Alton Salvation Army Lieutenant Teri Ellison says this will save the organization upward of $20,000.

Ellison comments

Ellison says there will be numerous locations this year and that a few sites have been switched to counter kettles.  You can learn more about volunteering to ring bells by clicking on the link below, or by calling 465-7764.
