The new leadership at the Salvation Army in Alton have been submerged into the day-to-day operations of the center since arriving here in June, and while attending to a number of programs, they are especially focused on helping the homeless. It is a mission shared with other chapters around the nation, and Terri and Bryan Ellison are pleased to share word of a new partnership with a handful of businesses that will help get homeless people back to work.
Bryan Ellison says the homeless can train at the coffee shop at their facility as a barista, which teaches them skills that can be used throughout the food service industry.
He says the busiesses that will be participating will be announced soon. For more information, call the Alton Salvation Army at 465-7764.
