About 300 people gathered at Lincoln Douglas Square Friday night for the annual lighting of the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club tree. The event signifies the start of the holiday season and the beginning of the Salvation Army's bell-ringing campaign. Salvation Army Lieutenant Terri Ellison says they are still looking for volunteers to serve as bell ringers and that everyone who volunteers will be eligible to win a prize. Ellison says you can see the prizes by visiting www.ringbells.org

Ellison Comments

Ellison says they are hoping to have an all-volunteer team of bell ringers this year, as paying some of their bell ringers has cost them upwards of $20,000 in the past. You can volunteer by calling their office at 465-7764 or you can sign up by visiting www.ringbells.org
