An E-coli outbreak across the St. Louis area may be linked to salad bars at five area Schnucks grocery stores. Health officials say some of the sick in the 28 confirmed cases cited they had visited the stores salad bar. Schnucks stresses none of its stores has been named as a source of the outbreak, but say they removed the items in question as a precautionary measure.
More than 30 cases of E-coli were reported last week in St. Louis County, but for days health officials had no link between the cases. Over the weekend, the victims spoke to health officials and the common denominator was the salad bar. Currently, the cases are in Missouri and none have been reported in Madison County.
