“Before you buy a product or go out to a business, get their refund and exchange policy,” Bernas says. “More and more stores are getting more stringent. And, especially for Cyber Monday, ask how long the shipping time is. Under federal law, a company has 30 days to ship merchandise that you order online.”

Finally, Bernas says, while cash is king, a credit card gives you more protection against a bad product or bad business.
