Be it Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or even a day that does not have a cute nickname, you can easily get scammed.
“Scammers will create a fake website, making it look like a legitimate company, and take your credit card information or steal your identity in some way,” says Steve Bernas, president of the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois.

“Before you buy a product or go out to a business, get their refund and exchange policy,” Bernas says. “More and more stores are getting more stringent. And, especially for Cyber Monday, ask how long the shipping time is. Under federal law, a company has 30 days to ship merchandise that you order online.”
Finally, Bernas says, while cash is king, a credit card gives you more protection against a bad product or bad business.
