Former Illinois Governor George Ryan is months away from rounding out a prison term for corruption. His attorney says he may consider becoming an advocate for death penalty reform but U of I Springfield Political Scientist Kent Redfield says Ryan may have a hard a hard time reestablishing his voice.
Ryan was released from a federal prison Wednesday. He checked into a halfway house and then went to his home in Kankakee, where he'll serve out the final five months of his sentence. Ryan is one of four Illinois governors who's served prison time in the past 50 years.
