On Friday the Madison County Sheriff's Office started making their first quarterly drop off of prescription drugs gathered from around the county to be incinerated. Major Jeff Connor chief deputy Sheriff of the Madison County Sheriff's office tells The Big Z there are many places to drop off excess prescription medication.

Sheriff John Lakin, in partnership with all the Police Chiefs of Madison County have collected over 1,200 pounds of prescription and over the counter medications to be disposed of at a federally regulated location. They can not take Oxygen tanks, asthma inhalors, mercury thermometers, hearing aids, household waste, or needles.
