Illinois has its first Republican candidate for governor.  State Treasurer Dan Rutherford made Chicago his first stop on a three-day statewide tour to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor next year.

During his Sunday announcement at Harry Caray's restaurant, Rutherford said the state has yet to address its looming pension crisis, and cannot move forward to address other problems until it does.

Democratic Governor Pat Quinn has not officially announced whether he will run for reelection, though most political analysts believe that he will.
